Baby Basics

One day in-person session to learn about newborns and how to care in the first weeks and months of life.

Registration is for 2 people. Class is limited to 4 pairs.

For those that are single-parenting, one family member or friend may accompany your registration. This class is great for first-parents, grandparents and caregivers who are looking for a hands-on way to learn about developmentally appropriate care for their new baby. Masks are required.

This class will cover many topics including:

  • normal behavior

  • swaddling

  • soothing

  • sleep cues and support

  • hunger cues and feeding support

  • early milestones

  • early postpartum period for parents

  • newborn safety

This class is offered the first Saturday of each month from 1pm-4pm at the Birth Center of Chicago.

Your instructor, Mary Calderon, is a skilled care giver and doula, with certification in both labor and postpartum doula support, a degree in developmental psychology, and is a certified lactation educator.
